Maxitherm 6UDN/1000 — Gas Fired Water Tube Steam Boiler

Technical description

Maxitherm Model 6UDN/1000 packaged water tube steam boiler, forced-draught natural gas fired, rated 6 MW with a maximum allowable working pressure (MAWP) of 1000 kPa (10 bar g), producing saturated steam at approximately 184 °C at design pressure.

Water tube (bent-tube) pressure vessel construction with integral steam and mud drums, generating bank and refractory-lined furnace envelope. Supplied as a complete skid-mounted package incorporating:

• Full instrumentation and control switchboard — burner management system (BMS), flame safeguard, modulating firing control, level control and low-water cut-out circuits
• Twin feedwater pumps (multistage centrifugal, duty/standby configuration) with associated feed control valve station
• Gas train, forced-draught combustion air fan and burner assembly
• Boiler-mounted safety valves, water level gauge glasses, blowdown and instrumentation trim

Condition and history

Unit was subject to a documented maintenance regime and was recorded in serviceable condition at the last inspection prior to decommissioning. Removed from service several years ago on site closure — not a distressed or failed asset. Preserved under dry lay-up and stored under cover indoors since removal, minimising waterside and fireside corrosion.

Indicative output

At 6 MW rated output, steam generation is approximately 9,500 kg/h "from and at" 100 °C — worth confirming against the nameplate, since some Maxitherm designations refer to gross heat input rather than net output.
